There are two primary methods: natural dimple creation, where a small incision inside the cheek and a suture creates a dimple that appears during facial expressions; and faux dimple creation, where an incision on the outside of the cheek removes a small piece of tissue, forming a permanent dimple that is always visible.

There are two primary types:
